UFFSA and FIND, Inc. District VIII Present Def Talent Jam 2017
Gainesville, FL (October 9, 2017) --
The University of Florida Filipino Student Association (UFFSA) and FIND, Inc. District VIII are proud to announce the 25th Anniversary of Def Talent Jam, which will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 in District VIII at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida.
Created in 1993, DTJ has grown from its humble beginnings as a single school talent show to becoming an event enjoyed by thousands each year. Filipino Student Organizations from across the nation descend upon Gainesville for competitions of sports, dance, and culture. DTJ is a special dance competition in that each team must incorporate a specific theme and challenge into their set. This year, the theme for DTJ XXV is "Glory"; teams will embrace their imagination and select a single issue of personal, local, global importance and showcase an interpretation of that story within their set. Additionally, teams will face an additional challenge of "living pictures", in which they must represent object with their bodies throughout the set.
The DTJ weekend consists of seven distinct events, starting with FAHM Closing Ceremony. FAHM Closing Ceremony is UFFSA's annual celebration of FAHM and presents cultural performances, free food, alumni reunions, and special guest performers. The following day features our Pre-Show Mixer at First Magnitude Brewing company, where current students and alumni from all schools can reconnect and enjoy the annual Florida-Georgia game. At night, join the audience of over 1,300 and cheer on your favorite team as they battle it out for the top spot of winning DTJ XXV. After the festivities of Saturday end, Adobowl -- UFFSA's 7v7 flag football tournament with a tasty adobo conclusion -- begins. Finally, for the first time ever, UFFSA is proud to present the DTJ dance workshop series taught by magnificent headliners from Kinjaz and Choreo Cookies! As always, all DTJ events are free and open to all students!
UFFSA is also proud to celebrate its 30th Anniversary this year. UFFSA spearheaded the formation of District VIII and the eventual inclusion of the District into the FIND, Inc. network. UFFSA prides itself on its pillars of sports, dance, culture, and pamilya.
Look forward to more DTJ updates through their social media platforms:
