Theme:

Magsalita

Motto:

“Tell me and I’ll forget.  Show me and I’ll remember.  Involve me and I’ll understand.”

- Confucius

Statement of Purpose:

The theme of this Dialogue is MAGSALITA, which in Tagalog, means “to speak.”  Speaking is a form of communication.  Communication, however, involves more than just the act of speaking for it to be effective.  Effective communication is a product that is dependent upon the relationship of a speaker and an active listener.  It is the foundation that relationships are built on, the vehicle for ideas to get across from one person to another, the most important tool used to build a movement among groups, and the key to success and continuity of organizations and their goals.

FIND, Inc. is an example of an organization that is built on effective communication.  Its success has been dependent upon the relationships formed through intercollegiate networking and the Dialogue that is promoted during each semester gathering. This Dialogue serves to promote awareness on varying issues and topics resulting from engaging speakers and active listeners, thus providing an environment that fosters the growth of intellectuals and future leaders.  It remains a valuable resource for Filipino-American college students.

In wishing to host FIND, Inc.’s Dialogue in the fall of 2008, District III would like to focus on the very foundation of the organization - Communication. "Magsalita" is even an important facet of Filipino families. District III has taken that idea and incorporated it in they way we treat our district. It is our hope, as the District III family, to spread this feeling not just through our own district, but to emphasize the “I” and the “N” in FIND, Inc. This is an Intercollegiate Networking Dialogue. Therefore, the three workshops will be framed according to the quotation, "Tell me and I’ll forget. Show me and I’ll remember. Involve me and I’ll understand." We are proving the effectiveness of communication and different mediums of communication that are used every day to make goals attainable.
