ABOUT THE THEME

The Filipino Intercollegiate Networking Dialogue, Inc. (FIND, Inc.) is an organization dedicated to the communication amongst Filipino college students and creating awareness of various issues of the Filipino community. Established in 1992, FIND, Inc. connects over 90 East Coast colleges, universities, vocational, and technical schools. These member schools are divided into seven districts according to their geographic proximity, and are located from the Northeastern seaboard through the state of Virginia. FIND, Inc. holds annual fall Dialogues and spring Conferences to bring together students to discuss various topics about Filipino and Filipino-American culture and current events.
FIND, Inc. has chosen the State University of New York at Buffalo to hold the 2006 Spring Conference workshops. The Conference, themed “Define,” will take place during the weekend of March 24-26, 2006. The purpose of this Conference is to refocus delegates to the fundamental goals of FIND, Inc., as well as to resurface some of the largest issues facing the Filipino and Filipino-American community. The theme was chosen to remind the delegates of, not only the purpose of FIND, Inc., but also asks the delegate to “define” their own individuality as a Filipino-American. Workshops cover a wide range of topics from community leadership and women’s rights to history and traditions to the media and performing arts. Speakers and facilitators for this Conference include local East Coast leaders and professionals as well as community leaders and activists from California. The 2006 Spring Conference Planning Board consists of the National Directors—representatives of each of the seven districts.
The State University of New York at Buffalo (SUNY-Buffalo) is part of District Four (D4), which includes schools from the upstate New York region.
